HOTT is participating in a fully funded development course from January to May 2023. This course is run by CAHDCO, a non-profit development corporation that develops affordable housing and social purpose real estate.
The course is funded by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Community Housing Transformation Centre (CHTC) and is aimed at helping non-profit organizations learn about different elements of developing new affordable housing. HOTT was approved as one of about twenty organizations across Canada to participate in this course.
Our participation demonstrates HOTT’s dedication to furthering our mission developing and operating more affordable housing. The CAHDCO course has come at the perfect time for our organization as five of our properties reach the end of their mortgages this year. This potentially allows the option for HOTT to leverage our assets and develop new housing.
Our involvement provides HOTT with the opportunity to hear perspectives from organizations across Canada and their unique approaches to developing new housing. The goal is to learn the best ways to be able to create new affordable units, so that we can effectively develop new housing and house more people in the future!
